The goal of this project is to visually explore and interpret the noun "Western" through a sequence of 100 images.

"Western" is a term loaded with multiple interpretations—geographical, cultural, ideological, and even cinematic. It can refer to the Western world, Western culture, Western-style clothing, or the genre of Western films, among many other things. This project engages with these varying definitions and seeks to unpack them through a progression of images that gradually build a nuanced, multifaceted understanding of the word.

To do this, I explored a wide range of materials and techniques, working at the intersection of traditional and digital media. From hand-drawn sketches, ink, and collage to digital painting, photography, and image manipulation, the process was deliberately experimental. This allowed for flexibility in both style and meaning, letting each image inform the next.
